Giving Your Home the WOW Factor

There are heaps of ways to incorporate statement pieces into your decor to give your home the ‘wow’ factor. Even one piece in a space can take it from bland to boom! in one step. So in this post, I’m going to share five great ways to give your room a burst of excitement.

Bold room
Bold Wallpaper

It may not be for everybody but treating a whole room in an exciting wallpaper will bring up the ante in any space. It’s risky but when it works, it really works. Feature walls have been around for a while, but this is taking it a lot further, building a scene you just fancy getting lost in.

Dramatic Lighting

The correct lighting can create drama and excitement in any room. Using large pieces or unusual vintage styles that no one else has is another way to get the wow factor in your home. They are fun and liven up the space, whether it’s a hallway or a bedroom.

Big Art

While a feature wall is still an attractive option, using one large statement item is a fabulous way to not only give a space some panache but also to draw the eye. While large art may be expensive, it’s an excellent investment especially for a piece you love. If the cost is a bit too much, you could always consider DIY-ing something for just the cost of a large canvas and some paints you could have something fabulous.

Go Dark

While light and breezy rooms will always be popular, the move to darker dramatic paint finishes is slowly catching on. And why not? The dark colour makes a room look cosy and mysterious and creates excitement with just a simple touch of paint. Just be sure to add scattered light sources throughout the space and lots of natural textures and tones to keep the space interesting.

Patterned Floor

While beautiful lighting draws the eyes up, a wonderful floor will knock your socks off! Get inventive with wood and tile patterns but keep everything else in the room simplistic. You want to make sure the floor is the main event here.
